Pressure mounts on Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro
Opposition parties stage marches in effort to step up campaign to topple President Nicolas Maduro via recall referendum.

Riot police have fired tear gas at stone-throwing protesters in Venezuela's capital amid opposition demonstrations to pressure electoral authorities into allowing a recall referendum against President Nicolas Maduro.
Protesters and National Guard members clashed on a highway in Caracas on Wednesday where thousands of demonstrators chanted "freedom" and waved copies of the constitution.
A video showed an officer appearing to use pepper spray against Henrique Capriles, the two-time presidential candidate, during the protest.
Capriles later said on Twitter that he was fine.
In the western opposition stronghold of Tachira, protesters brandished signs reading "We don't want to do die of hunger", while some masked youths blocked streets with rubbish and prepared Molotov cocktails.
The Democratic Unity coalition has stepped up its campaign to topple Maduro amid a worsening economic crisis, but says the government-leaning electoral body is intentionally delaying the verification of signatures in favour of the referendum.
The opposition submitted roughly 1.85 million signatures on May 2 in favour of the referendum.
If they are validated, the opposition must then request another petition drive and gather around four million signatures to trigger a referendum.
If the opposition succeeds this year in winning a recall referendum to oust Maduro, whose term ends in 2019, new elections would be held.
But if a successful recall referendum is held next year, the presidency would fall to the vice president, a post currently held by Aristobulo Isturiz, a loyalist of the governing United Socialist Party.
The opposition says Maduro, elected in 2013, is pushing the oil-producing country towards economic catastrophe.
One recent opinion poll showed that almost 70 percent of Venezuelans want Maduro stripped of presidency this year.

Thailand students caught in high-tech cheating scam
University calls for laws to prosecute students and criminals who use gadgets such as smartwatches to cheat in exams.
A leading private university in Thailand is calling for a change in the law to prosecute students who cheat and the criminals who help them.
The call comes after the discovery of unusual high-tech cheating methods used by three female medical students.
Bangkok's Rangsit University cancelled its examinations on Saturday and Sunday for admission to its medical and dental faculties after the discovery of the methods, such as embedded cameras and smartwatches with stored information.
While cheating has long been a problem in Thai schools and colleges, the use of high-tech gear has taken the practice to a new level.
The cameras were used to take pictures of the test sheet and the smartwatches to receive answers from someone outside.

Three students were caught by university staff overseeing the exam on Saturday. The next day three more were caught, but they were not trying to get into the university.
Officials said the students were part of a group that is charging students thousands of dollars for exam answers.
Thailand does not have a law to prosecute students who cheat - something Rangsit University wants changed.
"Exam cheating is not a minor offence. It's the start of other criminal offences," university administrator Kittisak Tripipatpornchai told Al Jazeera.
"If we don't have law or tough measures to deal with this, our education system will never be competitive with other countries."
Educators say cheating has flourished because of an education system that makes exam scores the only criterion for assessing a student's ability and granting admission into places of higher learning.

Prince Saw Doctor Day Before Death

Prince was treated by a doctor and prescribed unspecified medications twice during the month before his sudden death in April. Kevin Mazur/Getty
Prince visited a Minnesota doctor, who prescribed him "medications and prescriptions," twice before his death in April, including the day before, The Associated Press reports.
Dr. Michael Todd Schulenberg treated Prince on April 7th and April 20th, according to a search warrant filed in Hennepin County. The warrant, however, did not not specify what medications Prince was given, or whether he took them. Themusician died April 21st at his Paisley Park home in suburban Minneapolis. He was 57.
Investigators interviewed Schulenberg and searched a hospital near Minneapolis where he worked. A spokesperson for the North Memorial Medical Center said that Schulenberg worked as a primary care physician at the Minnetonka clinic, but no longer worked for the health care system.
Authorities also returned to Paisley Park park tonight, May 10th. Officials did not specify what they were looking for, though the Carver County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud told the AP that investigators were "being thorough."
Prince's initial autopsy to determine cause of death was inconclusive and the Midwest Medical Examiners Office continues to await the return of toxicology tests. But investigators have focused on the musician's alleged addiction to painkillers, stemming from chronic hip pain he suffered over the past few years. Both the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration have joined the investigation.
Prince was reportedly in possession of painkillers at the time of his death, while days before, his private plane was forced to make an emergency landing for medical reasons and he was reportedly given a shot of Narcan, an opioid antidote. Per a report from the Star Tribune last week, Prince was scheduled to meet with an addiction specialist the day he died.
Watch Kanye West Joy Ride With Desiigner in Raw 'Panda' Video

New York rapper Desiigner joy rides with Kanye West in the gritty, raw video for his breakout single, "Panda."
Budding New York MC Desiigner has delivered a gritty, frantic video for his breakout single, "Panda," which boasts a cameo from the rapper's biggest co-signer, Kanye West.
The clip premiered at a special event for Tidal members at Jay Z's 40/40 Club, and will be available exclusively on the streaming service for the next seven days (though both subscribers and non-subscribers can watch).
The "Panda" video opens with various shots of New York City at night, the camera movements growing increasingly unstable until Desiigner finally steals an unsuspecting man's car at gunpoint. The rest of the clip finds the MC speeding and prowling around the city while fights break out in the streets and cops bust down doors. West appears near the end, jumping behind the wheel of the white BMW the song's title refers to.
West notably inked Desiigner to a G.O.O.D. Music deal and prominently sampled "Panda" on The Life of Pablo's, "Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 2." At the end of April, "Panda" reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first New York rap song to do so since Jay Z's "Empire State of Mind" in 2009.
Desiigner will make his late-night TV debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert tomorrow, April 11th.

Coach Hall to quit Azam
Azam head coach Stewart Hall will quit his role in charge of the ice cream makers at the end of this season.
The British tactician, who is at the Tanzanian side for this third spell, skipped training last Thursday after handing in a resignation letter but was convinced by club management to stay on until the Federation Cup final against newly crowned league champions Yanga.
Hall told supersport.com in an exclusive interview that, “I will not be in charge of Azam FC next season. My last game is the Federation Cup final against Yanga.”

Close sources revealed that, “It is not a secret that Hall has been frustrated by the continuous match fixing in Tanzania, something he feels has sabotaged his attempt to march the big guns in Yanga and Simba especially in trying to win the league title.”
Hall has failed to win the Vodacom Premier League title in all his three tenures at the helm of Azam including the 2010-2012 spell before he was replaced by Serbian Boris Bunjak for a few months.
Hall took over again in 2012 before leaving at the end of the 2012/2013 season with Cameroonian Joseph Omog taking over the icecream makers guiding them to the 2013/2014 league title.
Hall replaced Omog in 2015 and guided Azam to their first regional title after defeating Kenyan side Gor Mahia 2-0 to lift the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup titlebefore inspiring them to the round of 16 in the Caf Confederation Cup last month.
Azam defeated Esperance 2-1 in Dar es Salaam but fell to the North African giants 3-0 in Tunis in the absence of key players including Kipre Tche Tche, Serge Wawa, Shomari Kapombe and Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza with most critics deeming this as a failure for the club that has invested a lot of money in buying foreign players.
Azam will represent Tanzania in the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup with or without victory against Yanga in the Federation Cup later this month.
Hall’s side is second placed on the VPL table standings with 60 points from 28 games, eight points behind champions Yanga who have a game in hand and have 68 points.
Yanga were crowned the 2016 league champions with three games to spare following Azam’s 2-2 draw with JKT Ruvulast Wednesday and Simba’s shock loss to Mwadui FC on Sunday. Simba sit in third with 58 points from 27 games.
